Comparison promotional video one

I also thought comparing our promotional video for the junction, with promotional videos for other commissions would give us a good basis as to what we could do, it could also help develop our ideas or give us some new ideas to try.

The below video is from Bournemouth University, and is promoting a Music & Audio Technology course at the university. It is different to ours in terms of a set brief but is the same in the fact its main purpose is to advertise. Below are some screengrabs of the video which I think are effective and promote the purpose well.



A shot of the music technology available to students is an effective way to get future students interested. A close up of the technology used shows what students can expect from working on the course, this shot very similar to our shots of what bands could expect if they played at the Fiver event.


The very first shot you see from the video is the shot above. This is a very clear establishing shot which shows what the video is trying to promote, and also what establishment the video is trying to promote. In this case, it would be Bournemouth University. This is very similar to the idea in our promotional video of the shot at the start of the Junction, although you do not automatically realise it is the Junction, you establish this from the Junction logo in the left top hand corner throughout.


Yet again shots of what students can expect to work with are very effective in promoting future establishments. This shot shows what the students can expect to work with, and yet again in similar to our promotional video as it gives a preview of what bands could expect if they played at the Junction.



Also another shot of what students get to work with in the main focus in this promotional video. It gives general shots of what students could expect if they chose to study the course they are advertising. It also gives a general idea of the university by the shot above too, and shows what students would be working at.

Overall, this video is similar to ours in the aim, the type of shots used and the general simplicity. It uses clear shots of what students could expect if they chose the course at Bournemouth and shows a rough basis of what the university is like. This is similar to our promotional video in which the bands get an idea of what they could work with, who they could work with, what help they would have, and what they could expect to achieve from the outcome.
